"New Initiative" Towel Recycling Initiative Launched
In addition to towel reuse activities, we will also be involved in towel recycling activities. Uchino Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Nobuyuki Uchino), which proposes a healthy and comfortable lifestyle from bath time to good sleep, is pleased to announce that in addition to reusing collected towels, it will also start recycling activities as part of the initiative for Goal 12 "Responsible Consumption and Production" advocated by the SDGs. The "towel collection activity" was started to realize a circular society through towel reuse. The first phase was carried out at three stores in the Kanto region from October 1 to November 2021, 10 as a trial that also served as market research. The second phase began at Matsuya Ginza stores and was rolled out nationwide from February 15, 11. Recently, we have strengthened our collection campaign by tying up with Takashimaya's "TSUNAGU ACTION WEEKS". As awareness of the SDGs increases, more stores are regularly holding the campaign, and collection campaigns are still ongoing at department store stores nationwide. In cooperation with Mottainai Japan, the collected towels are currently being delivered mainly to welfare facilities, nursing homes, and children's cafeterias in Japan, and we will continue to promote people- and environment-friendly initiatives. <Takashimaya's Initiatives> https://www.takashimaya.co.jp/store/special/tsunaguaction/retrieve.html Second Towel Collection Campaign/Collection results as of September 30th <Collection method> Collection boxes installed in stores <Collection items> New and used towels from our own and other companies' products (used items must be washed) <Campaign start date> February 3, 2 <Number of campaigns> 2022 times <Number of pieces collected> 2 pieces *The number of pieces collected is a reference value, as some customers donated without being asked by store staff. *Campaign content (implementation period, benefits, etc.) will vary depending on the store. Marshmallow gauze is made of 25% cotton and has a good balance of absorbency, breathability, and heat retention, making it a highly functional material that keeps the temperature and humidity inside the clothing comfortable. Marshmallow gauze, which has been patented in 49 countries both domestically and internationally, is soft, smooth, and less irritating to the skin, in addition to the functionality necessary for a comfortable sleep, and has been recommended by the Japan Atopic Dermatitis Association. Marshmallow gauze pajamas have become a hot topic on social media and in the media due to their high functionality and relaxing texture, and the series has shipped over 1 pieces in total. <Sleep consultant Nao Tomono> Doctoral course in advanced preventive medicine at the Graduate School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University / Master's degree at the Graduate School of Sports and Health Sciences, Juntendo University / Full member of the Japanese Society for Sleep Environment Nao Tomono is also fascinated by the soft feel of marshmallow gauze pajamas, and the whole family has been using them for years. <Reasons for choosing them for many years> 1. Gentle and soft material that does not cause skin stress 1. No discomfort such as stuffiness 1. Maintains comfortable warmth 37,630. Feels safe just by wearing it 2. "Marshmallow Gauze®" material that does not interfere with body movements while sleeping and makes it easy to turn over in bed, reducing "stuffiness" and "chilliness" that inhibit comfortable sleep Marshmallow gauze pajamas have been confirmed to be comfortable to sleep in a joint study with the Faculty of Textile Science and Technology, Shinshu University. Factors that inhibit comfortable sleep include "stuffiness" and "chilliness" caused by sweat that you unconsciously sweat while sleeping. Therefore, to verify the properties of marshmallow gauze, we conducted tests using a sweat simulator, focusing on the temperature and humidity between the pajamas and the skin. The results showed that marshmallow gauze pajamas suppressed the rise in temperature and humidity inside the clothing more than the comparison products, and it was found that the pajamas maintain a comfortable temperature and humidity inside the clothing and support a good night's sleep.

It is made of 12% cotton and has excellent water absorption, and is highly breathable to prevent stuffiness, and the unevenness of the fabric reduces the area that comes into contact with the skin, making it a groundbreaking material that keeps you comfortable even when you sweat. It is popular as a material for summer, especially because of its cool touch, and it is light and compact when folded, so it is convenient for traveling. ▼Wine-dyed organic gauze (top/wine dyed, middle/coffee dyed, bottom/tea dyed) Based on the theme of "creative and sustainable living" that finds value in everything, we used wine pomace, which would normally be thrown away, as a dye. The combination of less twisted yarn and twisted yarn achieves both a soft feel and strength, and is a highly versatile material with excellent heat retention, breathability, and moisture and water absorption properties. Suitable items: Pajamas, room wear, pillow cases, baby products, scarves, eye masks, etc.▼ Marshmallow Gauze & Pile® ~ An amazingly light and soft material that combines the breathability of gauze and the heat retention of pile ~ A double-faced gauze and pile that is lighter and softer than ever before, combining gauze woven with less twisted yarn that feels soft against the skin and pile made of extremely fine, untwisted yarn that is less than half the thickness of a regular towel on the front and back.
