Business development with Harrods
Recognized as a "high-quality lifestyle brand that is filled with 'comfort' that appeals to the five senses," we began doing business with them in January 2012. We are expanding our lineup to include towels, bathrobes, slippers, and more, in a wide variety of materials that meet the times and needs. UCHINO is the only Japanese manufacturer that offers products in the Home & Furniture category.
Developing the European market
In 1988, we established a representative office in Paris, France, and used Paris as a base to develop the market. It was very challenging to develop a market with a product made of "light and soft" material in the European market, where heavy towels are the norm. However, we believed that a comfortable material with "lightness and softness" that enriches lifestyles would be accepted worldwide. We continued our sales activities patiently and steadily. Starting with an exhibition at Heimtextil, one of the world's largest home textile trade fairs, we have also exhibited at Maison & Objet, the world's largest interior and design exhibition, since 2008, and gradually a positive response was generated. The product's value and benefits, such as "the pleasant feeling you feel at the moment you touch it," "comfortable to use," and "its outstanding lightness and quick drying reduce water and electricity consumption and reduce environmental impact," were gradually recognized in the European market.
In addition to Harrods, the company is steadily expanding its sales channels, doing business with Le Bon Marché, a long-established luxury department store in Paris that is said to be the oldest department store in the world, and also contracting the manufacture of products for famous haute couture brands. Currently, the company offers products that meet the needs of each country in 16 countries, including Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Spain.
