Launch of initiative to convey "congratulations" to premature babies and their families

We will start an activity to connect people through "congratulations"

Uchino Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo / CEO: Uchino Nobuyuki), which proposes a healthy and comfortable lifestyle from bath time to good night's sleep, is pleased to announce that it has teamed up with Kurumu General Incorporated Association to begin activities to support the environment surrounding premature babies and their families.

Background of the Activity

Although it is not widely known, in Japan, approximately one in ten babies are born with a low birth weight (less than 10g).* Although families feel joy at the birth of their baby, at the same time they feel confused and anxious about the tiny baby in front of them, and are faced with the reality that they will have to worry about a variety of things in the medium to long term.

With the desire to support the creation of an environment where all babies who represent the future are blessed and where families and babies are surrounded by smiles, we have decided to start activities to support families and low birth weight babies in cooperation with the general incorporated association Kurumu. In addition, because it is something that can happen to anyone, we will also work to raise awareness so that as many people as possible will know about the environment surrounding low birth weight babies.

Our Projects

Although it may be a small thing, we believe that human interaction can fill the heart. Hoping to create an opportunity for the formation of a bond between family and baby, we will continue to support families by providing small-sized underwear that fits babies and Marshmallow Gauze® swaddling clothes that are gentle on delicate baby skin, and bringing smiles to the faces of families surrounding their babies.

【Results of Activities】
We gifted a set of Kurumu's small underwear and UCHINO's Marshmallow Gauze® swaddling blanket.

September 2022: 9 sets donated to the Obstetrics Department of Chiba University Hospital
October 2022: 10 sets donated to Hakodate City Hospital
October 2022: 10 sets donated to Osaka City General Medical Center

We will continue to make regular donations through medical institutions to support the healthy growth of babies.

Wrapped Underwear: Small undershirts in sizes 100cm and 30cm, carefully sewn in Japan using 40% domestic cotton milling fabric that is absorbent and lightweight. The existence of sizes that fit babies reduces feelings of alienation and brings a sense of security.

Marshmallow Gauze® Swaddling Cloth: A swaddling cloth made of 100% cotton, a patented material that is soft and has excellent heat retention, breathability, and water absorption. Marshmallow Gauze® also complies with the infant standard of OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, an international safety standard for textile products.
